University of Tartu invites applications for doctoral studies from future researchers and top professionals.

The conference takes place 5–7 June 2024 at the Oecologicum of the University of Tartu, Juhan Liivi 2, Tartu. The sixth mass species extinction is one of the greatest ecological threats of our time. This conference focuses on cultural, subjective and semiotic approaches to extinction.

The event will take place on 23 April at 16.15.

Yesterday's and today's semioticians who are studying and have studied are all welcome to gather on May 17th.

On Friday, April 5, at 16:15 - opening of the exhibition "Kant 300 in Tartu: from manuscripts to heaven" at the university library. The exhibition features original manuscripts of the philosopher's lecture courses and correspondence, as well as first editions of his works from the collections of the University of Tartu Library.

XV International Tartu Semiotics Summer School titled “Learning in Transformation”. The event will take place from August 28 to 31 in Viljandi and Kääriku, Estonia. The summer school commemorates 60 years since the First Summer School of Secondary Modelling Systems, which played a pivotal role in the birth of the Tartu-Moscow School of Semiotics.

The workshop will take place at the University of Tartu on 28.–29. September 2024.

The Bachelor’s Degree Ceremony of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities takes place on Thursday, 17 June, at 14.00 in the University of Tartu assembly hall (Ülikooli 18).

Master’s degree ceremony of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities takes place on Thursday, 20 June at 13.00 in the University of Tartu assembly hall (Ülikooli 18).

The discussion game created by experts from the University of Tartu Ethics Centre has made its way to the demo area of sTARTUp Day.

Auli Viidalepp will defend her doctoral thesis “The Expected AI as a sociocultural construct and its impact on the discourse on technology” for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (in Semiotics and Culture Studies).

On 18 December at 12:00, Tuuli Pern will defend her doctoral Thesis “Affective-imaginative modelling in semiotic context: A Vichian perspective” for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (in Semiotics and Culture Studies).
